Just a few years ago, Mac computer users were just about out of luck when it came to finding Mac poker sites. Only a few poker sites offered Mac-friendly software and it was a pain to even find those sites.
As the major online poker sites have matured over the years, Mac-friendly poker sites have become a lot more common. Most of the biggest poker sites now offer either Mac friendly software you can download or a no-download, instant play version that you can play through your internet browser.

Mac Poker Software Download
As far as I’ve been able to tell, only PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker offer Mac-friendly poker software that you can actually download and install on your Mac computer. It’s kind of a pain to find the Mac download link at both sites but if you look around, you’ll find it.
The Mac friendly software download is the ideal option because it runs the smoothest, has the best graphics and is great for multi-tabling. The no-download version isn’t terrible but if you have the option to download an actual software package, that’s usually the best bet.

Instant Play Mac Poker
Most Mac friendly poker sites use a web-based solution to provide online poker for Mac users. If you look at the website of any Mac friendly poker site, you’ll see an “Instant Play” button somewhere.
When you click on that button, you’ll be taken to a registration page where you can create an account and make a deposit if you want to play for real money. After that, you can click on the “Instant Play” button any time to play poker right at the website.
The poker lobby will appear in a separate window in your internet browser and then each table will open up in a different window so you can still multi-table when playing on a Mac.
The Mac friendly poker sites do a pretty good job at making their instant play versions mimic full download versions but you can still tell the difference. The instant play version is still a great solution but it’s just not quite as flashy as the full download version.

It’s easy to get started playing online poker with a Mac computer. The most frustrating part of it is actually finding the Mac download options at the poker site web pages. You’d think most of these poker sites would make their “Instant Play” or “Mac Download” buttons big and obvious but they aren’t.
